Everything you need to know about launching a coin on Moonshot from any browser: what it costs, how payment works, what happens on-chain, and how your funds stay safe.

Overview

Moonshot only lets you create coins from its mobile app. Liftoff lets you create the same kind of coin from any web browser on desktop or mobile, using the Solana wallet you already have.

Every coin launched on Liftoff is created on Moonshot's own bonding-curve configuration, running on Meteora's Dynamic Bonding Curve program. It trades from the moment it's created, is paired with USDC, and shows up on trading sites like any other coin on that curve.

Any browserDesktop, laptop or phone. No app to install.
SOL or USDCShort on USDC? The shortfall is swapped from your SOL for you.
Your wallet, your keysYou sign every transaction yourself. Liftoff never holds your funds.

Quick start

  1. Connect your wallet. Click Connect wallet in the top right and approve Liftoff in Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. Once connected, click your address to copy it or disconnect.
  2. Open the launch page. Click Launch on web on the home page, or go straight to launchonliftoff.com/launch.
  3. Add your coin's details. Upload an image, then enter a name, a ticker and an optional description. Add your X account and website if you have them.
  4. Choose your first buy. Pick how much USDC of your own coin you want to buy the moment it launches (at least $1).
  5. Press Launch and approve. Check the total, press Launch, and approve in your wallet. If you're paying with SOL, you'll approve a quick swap first.
  6. You're live. You'll see “TICKER is live” with your coin's address and a Copy button. Share it and you're off.

The whole process usually takes under a minute.

What you need

  • A Solana wallet. Phantom, Solflare or Backpack as a browser extension. On a phone, open launchonliftoff.com inside your wallet app's built-in browser (in Phantom, tap the globe/search tab).
  • A little SOL for network fees and account rent. Keep about 0.03 SOL available on top of anything you'll swap.
  • USDC, or SOL to cover it. You need enough for your first buy plus the $3.74 launch fee. If your USDC is short, the rest is swapped from SOL automatically.
  • An image for your coin: PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB. Square images look best.

Creating your coin

These are the fields on the launch page. A live preview on the right shows how your coin will look.

FieldRules
ImageRequired. PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, max 5 MB. Stored permanently on IPFS.
NameRequired. Up to 32 characters (emoji count as more than one).
TickerRequired. Up to 10 characters, automatically uppercase. Shown as $TICKER.
DescriptionOptional. Up to 500 characters.
XOptional. Type @handle, handle, or paste an x.com / twitter.com link.
WebsiteOptional. https:// is added for you if you leave it off. If empty, a Moonshot link for your coin is used.
First buyRequired. USDC amount, minimum $1. Quick picks: $5, $10, $25, $50.
Double-check before you launch. A coin's name, ticker, image, description and links are locked permanently when it's created. Nobody can change them later, including you and Liftoff.

Your first buy

Your coin is created and your first purchase happens in the same transaction, so you are always the very first buyer at the lowest price on the curve. Nobody can get in ahead of you.

The tokens go straight to your wallet. The minimum is $1 and the launch page starts at $5. You can type any amount you like.

Fees & costs

ItemCost
Launch fee$3.74 USDC, paid once when your coin is created.
First buyWhatever you choose (min $1). It buys your own coin; it isn't a fee.
Network fees & rentAbout 0.03 SOL. Solana charges this to process the transaction and create your coin's accounts.
SOL → USDC swapOnly if your USDC is short. Normal Jupiter swap pricing, with slippage capped at 1%.

The launch page shows the exact total before you press Launch, and your wallet shows it again before you approve.

Where the money goes

  • The launch fee goes to Liftoff's treasury wallet as part of your launch transaction.
  • On your first buy, Meteora pays a small referral share of the trading fee to the referring site, which is Liftoff. After that, Liftoff takes nothing from trading on your coin.
  • Trading fees on the bonding curve are set by Moonshot's curve configuration, not by Liftoff.

Paying with SOL or USDC

Coins on Moonshot's curve are paired with USDC, so the launch is always paid in USDC. You don't have to hold USDC, though:

  1. Enough USDC? It's used directly. One wallet approval.
  2. Not enough USDC? Liftoff works out the shortfall and asks your wallet to swap just that amount (plus a couple of cents to cover rounding) from SOL via Jupiter. You approve the swap, then approve the launch. Two approvals.

The summary on the launch page tells you in advance which path you're on and roughly how much SOL will be swapped.

If the swap goes through but the launch doesn't, the USDC stays in your wallet. Try again and it will be used, with no second swap.

Your “…moon” address

Every coin launched on Liftoff gets a contract address ending in “moon”, so Liftoff launches are easy to recognise.

The address is generated in your own browser in the background as soon as you open the launch page, usually before you've finished typing. Its key is used once to sign your coin's creation and is then thrown away. It gives no control over the coin: once the coin exists, the bonding curve program controls the supply.

After launch

  • It trades immediately on Moonshot's bonding curve. Anyone can buy or sell straight away.
  • Trading sites pick it up within minutes. On GMGN it shows as a Moonshot launch. Some platforms label coins by the underlying Meteora program instead (for example “Virtual Curve”).
  • Graduation. When enough USDC has been bought into the curve, the coin graduates to a Meteora liquidity pool automatically, under the rules of Moonshot's configuration.
  • It appears in the Launches list on the Liftoff home page (see below).
  • Details are permanent. Name, ticker, image and links can't be edited after launch.

The Launches list

The home page lists coins launched through Liftoff.

  • Search by name, ticker or contract address. A leading $ is ignored, so $LIFT and lift both work.
  • Sort by Market cap, Newest or Oldest. Search and sort work together.
  • Copy an address by clicking any row.
  • Prices and market caps come from DEX Screener and refresh every couple of minutes. A brand-new coin shows “New” until DEX Screener has priced it, usually within a few minutes. In the Market cap view, new coins are listed after the priced ones.
  • The list shows the top 10 results. Use search to find any other Liftoff launch.

Safety

Liftoff never holds your funds

There are no deposits and no accounts. Every transaction is built for your wallet, and you review and sign it yourself. Your SOL and USDC only move when you approve.

Every launch is checked before it's sent

Before a launch is broadcast, Liftoff's server checks that the transaction is a normal Liftoff launch and rejects anything else:

  • It uses only Solana's standard programs (Compute Budget, Token, Associated Token, wallet safety checks) and Meteora's bonding curve.
  • It creates exactly one coin, on Moonshot's configuration, with your wallet as the creator.
  • It includes the launch fee to Liftoff's treasury, and your first buy on your new coin's own pool.

What we will never do

  • Ask for your seed phrase or private key. Anyone who asks is scamming you.
  • DM you first, or ask you to send funds to an address.
  • Offer “support” that needs remote access to your device.

Official links

The only official website is launchonliftoff.com and the only official X account is @launchonliftoff. Check the address bar before you connect your wallet.

Site hardening

The site runs no third-party scripts, can't be embedded in other websites (so nobody can trick you into signing through a disguised page), and is served over HTTPS only.

What's in a launch transaction

  1. Compute-budget instructions (priority fee so it lands quickly).
  2. Creation of Liftoff's USDC fee account, only if it doesn't exist yet.
  3. Create pool with first buy: creates the coin's mint and Metaplex metadata, the bonding-curve pool on Moonshot's configuration, and your first buy. The referral account is Liftoff's USDC account.
  4. A USDC transfer of the launch fee to Liftoff's treasury.

Other details

  • Pool address: a program-derived address from the seeds "pool", the config, and the two mints (larger first).
  • Metadata is created immutable (no update authority).
  • Your wallet signs first, then the coin's address key adds its signature, following Phantom's multi-signer guidance.
  • Images and metadata JSON are stored on IPFS via Pinata.
  • SOL → USDC swaps are routed by Jupiter and sent by your own wallet.

FAQ & troubleshooting

Is this an official Moonshot product?

No. Liftoff is an independent website. It creates coins on Moonshot's public curve configuration through Meteora's open program, the same on-chain setup the Moonshot app uses, but it isn't run or endorsed by Moonshot.

“No Solana wallet found”

Install Phantom, Solflare or Backpack as a browser extension and reload. On a phone, open launchonliftoff.com inside your wallet app's built-in browser, since regular mobile browsers can't reach wallet apps directly.

“Not enough SOL to cover the swap plus network fees”

You need enough SOL for the swap and about 0.03 SOL left over for the launch itself. Top up SOL, add USDC, or lower your first buy.

The swap worked but the launch failed

Your USDC is still in your wallet. Press Launch again and it will be used, with no second swap.

“Simulation failed” or “Rejected”

The launch was checked before sending and didn't go out, so nothing was charged. It's usually a balance that changed between steps or a busy network. Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps happening, message us on X with the error text.

“Transaction expired” / it's taking a long time

Solana transactions are only valid for about a minute. If the network is congested or you took a while to approve, it can expire. Nothing is charged for an expired transaction. Just try again.

My X or website link was rejected

For X, enter just your handle (with or without @) or a full x.com link. For the website, enter a normal address like mysite.com. Links to other kinds of pages or with spaces won't be accepted.

My coin shows “New” instead of a market cap

Market caps come from DEX Screener, which usually prices a new coin within a few minutes. Until then it's listed as “New” (after priced coins in the Market cap view). The list refreshes every couple of minutes; reload the page to see it sooner.

Can I change my coin's name, image or links later?

No. Metadata is locked permanently at creation, which protects buyers from a coin being changed after they buy.

Why does my coin's address end in “moon”?

Every Liftoff launch gets one so they're recognisable. See Your “…moon” address.

Do I earn anything as the creator?

You keep all the tokens from your first buy. Trading-fee arrangements are defined by Moonshot's curve configuration. Liftoff doesn't take a share of trading beyond the one-time referral on your first buy.

Risks & disclaimer

Memecoins are highly speculative and most lose most or all of their value. Only use money you can afford to lose. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

Liftoff is an independent interface to public Solana programs. It isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, Moonshot, Meteora or Jupiter. Blockchain transactions are final and can't be reversed.

You're responsible for what you launch. Don't use names, images or branding you don't have the rights to, and don't impersonate real people, projects or companies.
